Fahrenheit 9-11
I didn’t really like the film “Fahrenheit 9-11”. It didn’t really make sense to me. I couldn’t really figure out what the main focus of the movie was. At first I thought it was just about bashing Bush, then maybe about September 11, but then it started to seem like it was about the Bin Laden’s. I’m guessing it was about all three points. I understand that Michael Moore doesn’t like Bush or the Republicans and that our government messed up during 9-11 but the way he presented his information didn’t really make me want to listen to him. I felt like he was trying to be too humorous that it was just kind of annoying and unfair to the people he was making fun of. Maybe we needed to watch the rest of the film or we needed to see the whole thing all together and it would make more sense. What were your thoughts of the video? Did you like it? Did you agree with Michael Moore’s opinion?

“Fahrenheit 9/11” was an interesting movie. Michael Moore had a creative filming style. However, I had trouble following the movie. I too, thought that the film was about making fun of Bush. Moore put his head on cartoons and picked out funny parts of his speeches. It was very negative and turned people against Bush. It rivaled a lot of his personal life. The film then turned from Bush and started to center attention on September and Bin Laden. I think Michael Moore was trying to try these things together. I think that Michael Moore was really obnoxious in his film but if he did not point out the points he made in his film then no one would have. The ability and the guts to make a film like this takes a lot of guts. I like that about the film. He definitely got his message across about his dislike for Bush and the Republicans. Actually, it seemed like his dislike for our government at the time. I think a lot of people related and liked this film but I think lots of other disagreed. I think if we would have watched more of the film then I would have understood it better.

I agree with Allison that he had to be really obnoxious and really dramatic to get his point across. If Michael Moore just showed us a film about his opinions and how much he hated Bush, people wouldn't listen and the only people who would watch his movie would be the people who already hated Bush. I do agree that he had to be really brave to make this kind of movie. He knew it would get a lot of criticism and it would cause him a lot of problems, but that is the kind of film maker he is. Michael Moore felt like he was making a good movie and helping get the facts out to the people. Even though he knew a lot of people disagreed with him, he was giving a voice to the people who felt the same as he did but didn’t have the resources to get the information out there.

I also agree with Allison that the film just seemed to be obnoxious. Michael Moore really didn’t look at the facts from both perspectives. He saw things as he wanted to and he portrayed them in the movie. I think the movie “Fahrenheit 9/11” can be watched as long as the viewers understand that he isn’t saying all the straight facts. He twisted pretty much everything into what he thought. Mainly the movie was about bashing Bush as Allison said and Bush’s administration. Michael Moore at one point puts words to what Bush was thinking at the time which made Bush look worse. Michael Moore however did show us how the oil industry may have had something to do with the way in which our country acted upon fighting back. I don’t remember hearing this information since I was so young when it happened. People should be able to watch this film as long as they understand that its very one sided and could have some wrong fact s.
